About the Artist
Hey there, my name is Malory Clancy, and I am the artist. I am a 2015 graduate of Pensacola Christian College with a Master of Arts degree in Studio Art and Illustration.
I was born and raised in the countryside of northeast Pennsylvania, where my landscape paintings often depict (see above). I grew up showing an interest in art whether it was coloring, doodling on my homework, or drawing my favorite cartoon characters. I was always encouraged to pursue art from teachers and family who saw potential in me even at a young age. All I knew was that I loved to draw!
Since 2013, I have been working primarily in oil, with subjects varying from landscapes to portraits to still lifes. Painting in oil is probably my favorite, but I also enjoy drawing, especially with graphite. Some days I don't even have a favorite medium...I want to use everything! Even with a wide range of subjects, my pieces are all personal, and most even have a story
attached to them. I believe creating something relatable to others and creating an emotional attachment, gives my work more meaning.
I believe art should be beautiful and it should have purpose...because art communicates a message. Through my artwork, I strive for a positive message of awareness; awareness of life, awareness of beauty, awareness of things more important than ourselves. What else should art do but to inspire and make others aware of the beauty around them! In all I do, I seek for that message to be shared, to inspire the appreciation of life, and to give all the credit to God, who has called me to be a creator, just as He is the creator of all things. One of my favorite quotes, "Our talents are the gift that God gives to us, what we make of our talents is our gift back to God," is a thought I strive to live by with my art. Accomplishing that is worth more to me than any praise could offer.
I thank God I am able to call myself an artist and to be able to share a part of me with each piece I create. I look forward to the artistic opportunities my future will bring as I continue to do what I love!
